How the institute is governed
An independent board of trustees, a Scientific Advisory Board, and an independent Data Access Committee. No single nation, military, partner, or funder directs the institute's work.
The institute's structure
Board of Trustees
Seven independent trustees, including an Independent Chair, who set strategy, appoint and oversee the executive, and own all material decisions.
Scientific Advisory Board
Six to nine international experts providing scientific direction and academic credibility across military medicine, trauma, and combat physiology.
Data Access Committee
Four to five independent members who review and decide on every application for access to the institute's research environment.
Audit & Risk Sub-Committee
Drawn from trustees, chaired by the Treasurer. Oversees the annual audit, the risk register, and cyber-security and data-protection posture.
Conflicts & Related Parties Sub-Committee
Reviews all related-party transactions before they go to the relevant board, maintains the register, and can commission independent fairness opinions.
Constitutional Membership
The legal members of the charity, who appoint trustees and vote on changes to the constitution. Limited in number.
Senior Ukrainian military medical leader
The institute's Honorary President is a senior Ukrainian military medical leader, serving as the institute's public figurehead and senior advisor. The Honorary Presidency is an honorary, non-governance role: the Honorary President is the institute's external voice on the frontline experience that motivates its work, not a decision-maker on its governance.
